just a little something

Do you feel that chill? There’s a breeze making its way around the country that has us searching for warmer clothes. But let’s not break out the jackets and sweaters just yet! Sometimes a girl just needs a little something to keep her warm. Jackets and blazers that fall right at the waist with shorter sleeves are just what the season calls for. Try on these jackets to say goodbye to humidity and hello to cool …
This tulip cut jacket from Topshop is adorable with its swing shape and mandarin collar. The pleated quarter-length sleeves are playful but don’t lose their formal appeal. The grey allows this jacket to be worn with just about everything from jeans to a cute party dress. This baby is machine washable and for £45.00 – or $90 – it’s worth every penny.
This jacket in its simplest form can be found at Target. Mossimo’s pleated, short-sleeve swing jacket in brown is perfect for jeans and a tee. It’s a lighter material that’s perfect for sunny fall days. This one is dry clean only, but you can deal with the extra upkeep because it only costs $24.99.
Here is an abbreviated form of the trench coat. The belted jacket has wide quarter-length sleeves. It gives a more structured look than the Mossimo jacket and is more flattering to the waist with the belt. This is perfect for work outfits – try it with a pair of ankle boots for a trendy London touch. This machine washable find is £70.00 – or $140.
Not in the mood for the restricting feel of a jacket? BB Dakota’s “Rosa” hooded vest in Nordstrom’s BP line is the perfect cool-to-cold weather transition piece. The cable-knit front and plaid backside & lining gives a cozy, warm feeling all over – well, except for your arms. The faux-fur trim is detachable.
For more coverage, Ellen Tracy’s Matelasse jacket has the classic houndstooth pattern in a new shape. The shawl collar gives a sophisticated look, along with the buttoned cuffs. This Italian wool jacket is dry clean only. It costs $498.00. Is this too steep for your budget? Take a look at my similar find from Forever 21.
This one’s an impulse buy. Upon first sight, you either love it or hate it. Take another look if you feel the latter. The jacket brings a unique idea and style with vibrant colors and stripes to make you stand out from the mainstream crowd. The tie material is light, so although it covers more of the body than the previous items, don’t worry about breaking a sweat.
If that’s too outrageous, tone it done with this mod look from Lux. The cobalt blue with black accents would look great with a pair of skinny black jeans. The back is pleated to give some shape to the straight front. Urban Outfitter’s website said it fits true to size, so go ahead and order it online without hesitation.
